A Caregiver’s Story…. Naps

It has been a quiet and uneventful day.  No family, no hospice just me and mom.  Right now, mom is in her recliner taking a nap.  I know she is asleep because I can hear an occasional snore float up the stairs.

Naps traditionally are not a normal thing for mom.  In the past she has taken them, on a rare occasion.  But it has been a busy time with lots of people in and out of the house and hours on the phone setting appointments, clearing up mistakes and informing people of what is going on. Mom even spent one afternoon going through her plastic boxes cleaning out gift wrap.  I think she needed a nap. Perhaps naps are a part of our new normal.
